Keeping Warm in Neutrals

Tis the season for sweater weather at least for the majority of the country besides southern California. Thought I would take advantage of this brief cool/rainy weather we've had the past few days and post an #ootd for you guys! Hope you like it!

This past Christmas, I was gifted a tan handmade coat and have been wearing it non-stop. It is super conventional as it pairs with almost everything and just barely thick enough to keep me warm during a California winter. What I really like about this coat is it has a slight boxy fit which gives me room to wear thicker sweaters underneath and won't give me a rumpled-up look. The boxy fit also adds a casual touch, but simultaneously the skinny lapels can give a formal vibe depending on what kind of outfit you wear underneath. I had been wanting a boxy fit coat for awhile and this one has definitely been useful.

Recently, I went to a J.Crew outlet store to return an item, but ended up leaving with something else instead. Haha, I hope I am not the only who's done this?.. This neutral turtleneck caught my eye right before I was leaving the store (so close to leaving empty-handed T.T) and well, I had to try it on. Neutral colored pieces are great because they usually can pair with any other color without clashing. I usually like my sweaters over-sized so I opted for a size larger than my usual to go for a more laid-back and baggy look.

A random man was trying to take pictures of me on the street so I got really shy and covered myself. Definitely not how a fashion blogger would react..

What drew me to this skirt was 1) it was leather, well faux leather and 2) the gorgeous ox blood/ burgundy color. I didn't own anything like it so I thought I would add a little something different and edgy to my closet and I'm glad I did! Don't be afraid to add a little pleather or (leather if you can afford it) to your closet, it gives whichever outfit you're wearing some extra flare.

According to the weather report, southern California will be in the 60/70's for the next week or so, which will be nice for a change after having 80+ degrees. Hope you enjoyed this outfit post and stay cool while it lasts!
